In this article, they discussed Penn DOT data from June 2006 to July
2012 on bike/car accidents, and presented a pie chart
However, this pie chart only summarizes the causes of the accidents.
It is also interesting to look at the data in terms of both fault
and cause:
From this, I conclude:
- When I am a car driver, I should be extra cautious when
turning, and should be alert for bicyclists running red
lights or stop signs.
- When I am bicycling, I should stop at all red lights and
stop signs (as I already do) and I should be very alert for
cars not noticing me while turning.
